The fast-paced Python tutorial aims to survey the fundamental programming topics of computer science used in many linguistic applications especially dealing with large quantities of texts, and in the industry with Python (2.7). Topics include those which you would find on sites like CodeAcademy (i.e. syntax, lists, functions, loops, etc.). If time allows, more advanced concepts will be introduced such as recursion, object-oriented programming, data structures, and the use of libraries. The workshop will be held on Saturday, November 21st from 11:00am to 2:30pm in Room 230, Poulton Hall. Food and drinks will be provided.
